Live performance has a beautiful, fleeting quality, as it only exists in the moment of its performance. In contrast, digital recordings have the potential – through copying, transferring, and duplicating – to remain on a device, server, or hard drive somewhere indefinitely. Ephemeral blends these two worlds, while obstructing its digital permanence through the use of Augmented Reality (AR), and by forming a dependent connection between the digital and physical (in this case the Ephemeral App and a card, available for print below). The performance cannot manifest without the two elements, creating an experience that allows you, the viewer, to choose how long it exists for.
